David Hubalik
Head of School

David Hubalik moves from Head of Operations for BASIS Mesa to Head of School. Prior to transferring to our Mesa campus Mr. Hubalik worked as the Head of Operations for BASIS Peoria; he also served as the School Director and Head of Operations of BASIS Flagstaff. In that role, he was responsible for the financial operations of the school, maintenance and development of the school premises, IT services delivery, IT equipment operation, and operations of auxiliary programs. Prior to helping to open BASIS Flagstaff in the Fall of 2011, David taught Physical Geography and AP Environmental Science at BASIS Scottsdale. While at BASIS Scottsdale David coached the BASIS Scottsdale Lower School Science Bowl team to a regional championship; the team qualified for and competed at the National Science Bowl event in Washington D.C. David is a native of Arizona and graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.


Christine Clauss
Head of Operations

Christine earned a BS in Kinesiology from Arizona State University. Prior to joining BASIS Mesa Ms. Clauss worked as the Operations Assistant at BASIS Chandler for two years. When not working she LOVEs to play both indoor and sand volleyball; enjoys hiking, cycling, scrapbooking, and working on art projects around the house.

Brian Jones
School Director

Brian Jones, our student support coordinator and Spanish teacher, is eager to be the BASIS Mesa School Director. After graduating from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor's in Secondary Education, he earned a Master's in Language, Reading and Culture.   He is currently pursuing a Master’s in Educational Administration at Grand Canyon University.   Brian’s professional achievements include being a Teacher Consultant for the 2010 Southern Arizona Writing Project (SAWP) where he designed and delivered a teaching demonstration on writing instruction in two languages.  Shortly after this presentation, Brian was asked to join the Board of Directors.   He is remains active in SAWP as a teaching consultant for the Bilingual Writing Education Program and is also a Writers Group Member.

As School Director, Brian will continue his role as student advocate, parent resource, and educator. His mission as an educator is steering our youth in the right direction.  Since educators impact lives, he takes his profession seriously and is proud to have that responsibility.  He loves working with students because of their enthusiasm and passion for life.

Kristen Ramos
School Director

Ms. Kristen Ramos comes to BASIS Mesa from BASIS Scottsdale where she served as the Upper School director and Student Support Coordinator and Special Education Specialist previous to that. Prior to BASIS, Ms. Ramos acquired 8 years of teaching experience in a special education environment. She graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Special Education and returned to ASU earning a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction and a second Master's degree in Education Administration. Ms. Ramos enjoys spending time with her two children Serena and Francisco and also likes to cheer on the Arizona State Sun Devil football team!




Dunora Alba

Degree(s) Earned: Bachelors in children's psychology, Master’s degree in Education - Cognitive Processes
Relevant Experience: Taught English and Spanish to students from pre-school to University for more than 20 years in Mexico and the USA. Has been a special education teacher and a parent liaison. Was a school psychologist in Mexico, coordinated a center for tutoring and that provided academic remedial support to students with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders. A member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, participates in the Mexico Arizona Commission and at the Mexican Consulate. Graduate of the Hispanic Leadership Institute of East Valley Mesa from Valle del Sol.
Hobbies/Interests: Read, hike. Once did dance Flamenco and did Karate. Loves anything that has to do with culture.


Javier Anduaga

Amanda Matthews
Degree(s) Earned:  Currently enrolled, actively working toward B.Ed. at Chandler-Gilbert Community College through their Connect2NAU program.
Relevant Experience:  Previously worked at a daycare, working with children kindergarten through sixth. Assisted with the school aged children during the summer months, playing games, assisting on field trips and entertaining them. During the school months, would help the children with any questions on homework and also entertained them once homework was all done.
Hobbies/Interests:  Loves seeing movies, traveling, going on cruises, shopping and hanging out with family.
